Barrelscape by

SAT 3 & SUN 4 MAY: 12.00pm-9.00pm

Barreslscape is an installation that will be situated in Callendar Park from Sri Lankan artist Chandraguptha Thenuwara created with painted camouflaged barrels.

The camouflaged oil drums and barrels have become a common sight in Sri Lanka due to ethnic conflict. Since the collapse of the peace talks in 1995, the barrels started to become more common, appearing all over Colombo and its suburbs. The civil space became barricaded and freedom of movement was restricted, changing the landscape of Sri Lanka to ‘Barrelscapes’.
