Kobai
Glasgow's Kobai are a no-nonsense, six-piece slab of acid-tinged rock that you can dance to. Drawing influence from a wide range of styles through Indie, rock, electro, punk and techno, Kobai have had their style in the past compared to the likes of Soulwax, The Chemical Brothers, The cooper temple clause, DFA 1979, Nirvana, LCD soundsystem, Kasabian and Muse amongst many others.
Within months of first forming Kobai won the UK wide Emergenza unsigned competition playing in front of 1000’s at the Glasgow Carling Academy and London Astoria.
They have supported The Fratellis, Ladyfuzz, Union of Knives, Shy Child, The Whip, Drive by Argument, Blood Red Shoes, Shout out Louds and the Filthy Dukes to name a few. 2006 saw the band touring throughout Germany, Austria, Italy and finally the UK promoting their enthusiastically received debut single Serotonin.
This limited, one-off independent release received airplay on regional radio stations throughout the UK including Kerrang Radio Birmingham, Juice FM Brighton, Metro FM Newcastle, Northsound etc, as well as on many major worldwide internet stations such as Selector radio and Music Choice London. Kobai also gained strong support from some of the UK’s leading radio stations, featuring on BBC Radio One, XFM Scotland (single of the week + band of the week), XFM Manchester (single of the week + unsigned band of the year).
